Welcome to KUTING REEF. The perfect place to getaway.
Amidst my crazy work schedules, I was able to squeezed in a quick weekend getaway to Leyte--which is just what I need, a breather. My college friends and I were invited to a wedding of our dear college friend, Nestor. Almost missed the boat by a few minutes because of the traffic and my last minute rush.
The boat departed around seven in the evening. We arrived in Maasin, Southern Leyte around three in the morning. We immediately checked in to the resort.
COCONUT trees decked the place. This leads to the Cabanas.
LOOKING UP, coconut trees gives a hacienda feel |
LOW-KEY. The resort kept a low profile giving off a private homey ambiance.
FRESH SEA BREEZE. Twenty steps away from the cabanas, this is the view that will greet you. |
OPEN SEA. A wide stretch of brown sand and blue sea. |

For the CONFUSED and those IN-THE-MIDDLE |
The Kuting Reef staff must be supporting the gay rights, they put up an exclusive for-the-gays-only comfort room in the lobby area. Cool huh?
Kuting Reef boasts of a relax environment, infinity pool, Globe Broadband service (only!), kayaking, banana boat ride and superb Filipino buffet. The drawback of the resort is that you have to go near the shore (on the little hill before reaching the shoreline) to get a decent signal. Which is exactly what busy people need (like me!): no contacts from the outside world.

We heart KUTING REEF |
BIG BREAKFAST, Kuting Reef way. Mismatched plates gives off a homey feel. |
GOOD MORNING GIRLS! Ready to chow breakfast after a 4-hour sleep |

SHADES APART. Picture-taking while waiting for the time to get dressed for the wedding ceremony. |
The change of scenery clears my disoriented mind. I started 2010 with a rough ride and I was so stressed out with my job and personal stuff--which also leads me to buy a luxurious lappy for myself (but that's a different story).
Nestor and his family extended their hospitality until we're boarded on the boat back to Cebu complete with pasalubongs. We are forever thankful for their kind hearts and thoughtfulness for making us feel comfortable and our experience enjoyable. Oh and also memorable to some. *wink*
It has been a quick weekend getaway that we all treasured. Some called in sick, some on leave and me on swap-rest day.
